John (Johann) Cominoli

In 1902, John (Johann) Cominoli and along with his wife Christina Baumann first came into this country from Switzerland. He was born in Austria in 1862. Christina Bauman was born in Germany in 1869. John Cominoli was a mason contractor for many years. One of his most notable projects was the Poets Seat Tower, an historic stone edifice erected in 1912. It was at the this sight in Massachusetts where Greenfield’s poet, Frederick Goddard Tuckerman, was inspired. John died in 1935 and Christina in 1952. Little is known about John’s ancestory, but it believed that his family originated from Ponte di Legno, in the Brescia Province of Italy.

Andrew Rudolf Cominoli

John and Christina had a daughter, Anna and a son, Andrew. Andrew was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1897. He enlisted in the Army in 1918. He married Maria (Mary) Rieff in 1921 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Andrew was machinist for the Threadwell Tap and Die Corporation in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Andrew died in 1976 and Mary in 1994.

While in living in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Andrew and Mary had two sons, Charles and John, and a daughter Christina. Charles was employed as typesetter in Brattleboro, Vt. Christina was a nurse in Greenfield, Ma.


Johnny served in the Navy during World War II serving aboard the U.S.S. Wasp and reached the rank of gunner’s mate third class. He retired from the Bendix Corporation and specializing in the manufacturing of taps and dies. John married Barbara R. Carignan in 1954 in Turners Falls, Ma.

John (Jack) Anthony Cominoli

While in living in Turners Falls, Massachusetts, John and Barbara had two sons, John and Anthony, and three daughters, Nancy, Barbara and Christina. John is currently works for an Internet Service Provider in Springfield, Ma, Va. Nancy works as a paralegal in Springfield, Ma. Barbara and her husband run a custom home building business near Irving, Tx. Christina is a homemaker  in Benardston, Ma. Anthony works as a Information Systems Technician near Greenfield, Ma.

Jack served in and retired from the US Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz, U.S.S. Enterprise, U.S.S. Nassau and reached the rank of Senior Chief Electronics Technician.  Jack married Barbara J. Boivin in 1977 in Turners Falls, Ma.

John (Jay) Robert Cominoli

Jack and Barbara had a son, John and a daughter, Margaret.  Jay is a web programmer for a advertising company in Virginia Beach.   Jay married Rebecca McCrickard in 2011 in Richmond, Va.  Margaret married Ryan Smarr in 2009 in Northfield, Ma.  They have 2 sons, Ethan and Austin.

John (Britton) Britton Cominoli

Jay has a son, John.
