Getting in the Holiday Spirit

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I’m not much for holidays, I’m sure anyone who knows me can tell you that.  As well I am horrible about remembering to get cards and gifts out on time.  But for some reason this year seems to be different (ok, I still procrastinate about getting gifts out on time).   It’s not even December yet and I’m already done Christmas shopping, my tree is up, and my house is decorated!   Can you believe it??  Well to help everyone else get into the holiday spirit, I have uploaded some holiday fun to the website (after the jump).

Thanksgiving 2009

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

As usual, Barb did a wonderful job of preparing a great Thanksgiving Dinner.  Maggie and Ethan made some custom napkins holders and set the table.  Besides Maggie, Ryan and Ethan, Barb’s sister Sue and her husband Bob also joined us for dinner as well.  We needed to go for a walk afterwards in order to make enough room for pies and other desserts.  There are enough leftover for many days to come.

Pastrami on Rye

… made such a good dinner; yum!

I can’t really believe it, but I’ve already been at this current job for two years now.  Not the best place in the world, but the work is steady and the people aren’t too shabby either.  I think I’m finally starting to feel productive lately.  Not as much as I would like to be, but I’m getting there.  I have a few ideas for some software I want to write (and Ryan has no problem helping me come up with new ideas for iPhone apps) and I’ve just been hooked up with a designer down in the the Virgin Islands (?) who needs a developer on hand.  I’m hoping something will come out of that.  As long as the flow is steady, that’s all that matters.

Swine Flu Stew

Monday, November 9th, 2009

While doing some research and idea gathering for this new blog, I came across an article that helped reinforce one of my winter time addictions, namely pho.  This amazingly delicious nectar of the gods has been known to cure just about any cold, throat problems, sinus problems, the chills, empty stomachs and, according to several of my co-workers, hangovers.   Well add to this great many feats the ability to battle the dreaded swine flu.  And to the fact I usually drown my soup in a little sriracha, I’m sure the combination would kill anything living inside me.  :-)

If you’ve never had pho (pronounced /fuh/), I’d suggest finding a local Vietnamese hole in the wall and getting some this winter season – there is nothing better.  As my local pho restaurant’s slogan goes:  “It’s pho-king good.”

Britton had a wonderful Halloween this year  — he ended up being a skeleton/pirate and Aidan was just a skeleton.

Thanks to Amy for sharing these pictures.
